Privacy

The short version: everything Psiphase records stays on your phone. There is no account, no website login and no tracking. There is nothing to opt out of, because there is nowhere for your data to go.

The app

What it records

Which session you ran, when, and how it went. Your settings. Any notes you write. And, during a session, readings from your body: your breathing rate and how still you are, from the phone, plus your heartbeat if you wear a Polar H10 chest strap. The app listens through the microphone to work out your breathing, but it never saves any sound.

Where it goes

Nowhere. It is stored on your phone only. Psiphase has no accounts, no server, no cloud copy and no tracking. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see your data, because it never leaves your phone.

Backup and export

One tap makes a dated backup file and offers to save or send it, the same way you would share a photo. Save it to Files or iCloud Drive to keep it. There is no automatic backup. If you delete the app or change phone without doing this, your sessions are gone.

Space

Long sessions take up space, and the space an app gets on a phone is limited. When it fills up, the oldest sessions are removed to make room, and the app tells you when that has happened rather than doing it quietly. If you see that warning, make a backup.

Delete

One tap deletes everything: every session and every setting. It cannot be undone.

Face ID lock

You can lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode, so your sessions stay private on a shared phone. It never locks in the middle of a session, and your passcode always works if Face ID does not.

Permissions

Microphone, to hear your breathing. Bluetooth, for the heart strap. Motion, to tell how still you are. Local network, for group sessions. The app asks for each one the first time you use the thing that needs it, not when you install it, and you can say no. The app still works without any of them.

Group sessions (being tested, not yet released)

A group session lets a few phones in the same room sit together, with one person watching how settled the group is. This is the one part of the app where anything leaves your phone, so here is exactly what it is. Your phone sends the watcher's phone a small settling score and your breathing rate every few seconds, and your heart rate if you wear a strap and said yes. That is all. No sound, no movement data, no notes. It goes over an encrypted link to the phones in the room and nowhere else. The watcher's phone keeps none of it after the session. You join by choice, you are shown these words before you join, and you can leave with one tap at any moment.

This website

This site sets no cookies and does not track you as a person. It is served by Cloudflare, which sees the basic connection details any website sees (your internet address and browser type) in order to show you the page. Cloudflare may give us a simple count of page views that stores nothing on your device and does not identify you. That is the only visitor data we look at.

Changes

If the app ever gains another feature that moves data off the phone, this page will say so before it is released, in plain words, and the app itself will ask you first, at the moment you use it.
